This past weekend was the 125th birthday of Huxley, IA and also the Huxley Prairie Festival. Dad and Mac rode the Century21 Signature Real Estate Float. They were a "hit"!
Thursday, August 16th was an important evening for our family. Samuel's Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held at First Evan in Memphis, TN. It was a very impressive ceremony with over 125 of Sam's family and friends in attendance to honor a very special Boy Scout. We pray that this will be a happy rememberance for Sam of a significant milestone in his life. As Sam said in his speech, may all glory go to His Savior Jesus Christ for making it all possible.
On Saturday, August 11th found Grandpa, Grandma, the Boucks, Uncle Lou, Aunt Pat, Zachary, and Sophie at the Iowa State Center for the Iowa Straw Poll. We had a good time watching the entertainment and eating free food!
Friday, August 10th found us all scurrying around getting ready for Grandpa's 70th birthday party. We set up the yard and prepared the food. We had fajitas, beans, several different salas, chips and cheese cakes for dessert. After dinner we were entertained with a Blue Grass Band. Grandpa, Uncle Lou and Aunt Pat also sang a couple of songs with the band! It was a fun evening and everyone had a good time.
August 9th found Grandpa, Grandma, the Boucks and the Spellings spending the day at the Iowa State Fair opening day. It was a hot/humid day but everyone had fun seeing the animals, eating corn dogs, turkey legs and ice cream. Maggie was the one to get into the pen with the "big boar" weighing over 1100 lbs.!
