Trish's Graduation from Staff and Command College

On Saturday, December 11th we attended the Army Staff and Command College graduation where Trish graduated and received her second major. A very impressive ceremony with several international officers graduating also.

ISU/KState Football Game at Arrowhead-KC

What a fun day (even though the score was not what we wanted) but it was fun tailgating before the game and then watching the game in Arrowhead Stadium

Our tailgating food - Trish fixed us a great lunch - Thanks Trisha!

Marc's visit and trip to KC

After the big Lt. Col Select party on Thursday evening, then on Friday we spent the day and evening downtown KC and wondered around Country Club Plaza

Had to stop for a coffee at a little coffee shop

Country Club Plaza is a wonderful place to visit

Found the ISU Pep Rally at the Power and Light Plaza

Then finished the evening with dinner at an Italian Bistro

Lt. Col. Select "Barn Party"

Yesterday, Thursday, we drove to Leavenworth, KS to attend the Lt. Col Select Party for Trish and 27 other students from her class. The party was held in a barn at the "Red Barn Farm" near Leavenworth. Food, a band (LOUD), and a bon fire made for a fun evening.

ISU Football vs West Point (Army)

Saturday Trisha and a fellow Staff Command College student came up from Ft. Levenworth for the ISU/Army football game. M is a Major in the Uganda Army and had never seen a college football game so this was a new experience for him. He seemed to enjoy the visit to Iowa and the experience of a college football game and the visit to the ISU campus.

Four Black Hawk helicopters flew over the stadium in honor of the veterans and active military attending the game

This was a hoot - after taking pics of Milton and the mascots, he told Trish he wanted a picture taken with "the old man, and the old lady" HA!! In his language there is another word for that but in English this is how it came out!

Sunday Events

Sunday we spent most of the day in Steamboat Rock at the Baptist Church participating in their Mission Fair. It was a great experience with several missions being represented. Norm did a great job in making his presentation for the MEF-ASE mission.

On the drive home from Eldora we saw so much damage from the terrible hail storm they had experienced a couple of weeks ago. Corn fields are totally destroyed and so many buildings with boarded up windows due to hail breakage. It looked like a "war zone"!

A good corn field by Radcliffe - they did not get hit

Birthday

Happy Birthday Norm! Norm spent a good part of his day (from early morning to later evening) talking on the telephone receiving birthday wishes from his kids, grandkids and brothers. (He even received several greetings via Face Book and he isn't even on FB) HA! It was a fun day for him and then we went to Hickory Park for a surprise dinner with friends.

Our home in the summer time

A few pictures of what we get to enjoy each day of summer in Iowa. Our yard has flourished this summer since we have been able to keep most of the deers out. However we do have a couple of fawns who have managed to sneak through the electric fence to help themselves to the apples.

Trish spent last weekend with us and had a good time going to the Iowa State Fair
