Samuel Luiken Bouck Eagle Scout

Thursday, August 16th was an important evening for our family. Samuel's Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held at First Evan in Memphis, TN. It was a very impressive ceremony with over 125 of Sam's family and friends in attendance to honor a very special Boy Scout. We pray that this will be a happy rememberance for Sam of a significant milestone in his life. As Sam said in his speech, may all glory go to His Savior Jesus Christ for making it all possible.

The Iowa Straw Poll

On Saturday, August 11th found Grandpa, Grandma, the Boucks, Uncle Lou, Aunt Pat, Zachary, and Sophie at the Iowa State Center for the Iowa Straw Poll. We had a good time watching the entertainment and eating free food!

Grandpa's 70th Birthday Party

Friday, August 10th found us all scurrying around getting ready for Grandpa's 70th birthday party. We set up the yard and prepared the food. We had fajitas, beans, several different salas, chips and cheese cakes for dessert. After dinner we were entertained with a Blue Grass Band. Grandpa, Uncle Lou and Aunt Pat also sang a couple of songs with the band! It was a fun evening and everyone had a good time.

A Day at the Iowa State Fair

August 9th found Grandpa, Grandma, the Boucks and the Spellings spending the day at the Iowa State Fair opening day. It was a hot/humid day but everyone had fun seeing the animals, eating corn dogs, turkey legs and ice cream. Maggie was the one to get into the pen with the "big boar" weighing over 1100 lbs.!

Adventure in Steamboat Rock

Sunday, August 5th we went to the "Luiken Family Reunion" in Steamboat Rock so Tracy, Sonya and family could meet some of the relatives.

After the reunion we toured SBR, the cemetary where Maggie and Luiken saw their name sakes.

After SBR we then took the kids swimming in Pine Lake. They loved it!!

Travels through IA, MN and ND

From July 17-24 we took a trip visiting all the supporters for ASE. We nicknamed the trip "Uncle John's Missionary Journey". we made many stops all the way from Northern Iowa to Northern Minnesota with our last stop in Grand Forks. What a wonderful experience visiting all of the folks who faithfully pray and support MEF-ASE.
We spent Friday and Saturday in Grand Forks visiting Vic and Marilyn and after church on Sunday headed to their lake home.

After we got set up Vic and Dad took the kayak out on a ride to the south end of Eagle Lake. Dad thought that was lots of fun! IMG_2416.jpg">

Dad helped Uncle Vic rig up a way to raise the kayak off of the ground and after a couple of tries and some new hardware they were able to get it accomplished.
